Design Ideas Will Make You See Red
Is red a safe color to decorate with? Is it easy to live with? Will one tire of it? The answers are yes, possibly and possibly.

Red is a very strong color and will only appeal to certain personalities.

Perhaps if red is a personally appealing color, it will be easy to live with - but how soon before one tires of it? The color must be very much loved or one will tire of it.

An easy out here would be to play up the red in only one room while using it as accent in other rooms.

Let's do a den/library in red.

Starting with the floor, try a dark wood, covered in the center with a red Oriental rug. The sofa or sleep sofa can be as red as the Oriental.

The beauty of this idea is that most red Orientals tend toward the burgundy or deep red rather than the flashy version of the hue. The depth of color brings with it a safe sophistication that warms the room.

Throw pillows of patterned fabric containing goldish-tan, red and perhaps black or whatever other color might be in the rug will make the sofa quite inviting.

A desk or reading table of dark wood should be accompanied by one or more chairs that are upholstered for comfort and color.

The upholstery should have a pattern that complements the pillows, or even the same pattern and colors as the pillows on the sofa.

Jean Prouvé : The Poetics of Technical Objects
This is the first comprehensive and systematic travelling exhibition of furniture and architecture which Jean Prouvé (1901-1984) developed and produced from 1924 until the mid 1970's.

Its curatorial concept, developed by guest-curator Prof. Bruno Reichlin, is structured along Prouvé's own ideas, explained in the famous courses he gave at the Paris CNAM (Conservatoire National des Arts et Métiers) between 1957 and 1970.

The exhibition contains approximately 50 original pieces of furniture, 10 original architectural units (including a complete "Maison de Sinistrés") and numerous architectural models as well as photographs and reproductions of Prouvé's architecture- and furniture-related drawings.

While most of the objects belong to the Vitra Design Museum's own collection, important loans stem from the Paris art dealers Philippe Jousse and Patrick Seguin, the Archives Départementales de Meurthe et Moselle in Nancy and the Prouvé family.

The exhibition is organized in cooperation with the prestigious Keio University of Tokyo.

What you need to know about choosing an Interior Designer

By Bronwen Elisabeth Roberts

Be sure that you have worked out whether you need an interior designer or a decorator. The titles can be confusing as to who exactly does what. The correct interpretation is that interior designers manage entire building projects while decorators often deal only with the 'cosmetics' of a space, such as fabrics, floor finishes, accessories and choice of color.

An interior designer will work on the ground with the developer and/or owner to come up with the best combination of internal finishes (depending on whether it's a grand style mansion or a contemporary/modern penthouse apartment).

A good start would be to research interior design ideas from magazines and books. This will save both time and money and will give the designer a good idea of what you want. There are also interior design firms that provide straightforward and simplistic furniture packages online. Also available online are great fabric outlets with a wide range of fabrics which provide quality in virtually every aspect of interior design.

Find a designer or interior design firm whose work you like. Ask to see examples of their work, and choose one who focuses on interpreting your needs and particular style... and who will not foist their own taste onto you and into your home.

Don't be embarrassed about your personal style: a good designer will not neglect your personality, style and taste but rather help you broaden your 'design' horizons, introducing you to what is available, and how it could work with pieces you've already purchased. It's the interior designers' job to enhance your space and also work the design around your most treasured possessions.

Don't be intimidated - definitely ask upfront how much the work will cost before commencement. Depending on the size of the job, most designers charge an initial consultation fee, after which a fee will be determined depending on the nature of work required. Expect to pay a percentage of the total cost as a down payment.

Designers can project-manage a job and coordinate everyone involved if necessary - the architect, upholsterer, painter etc. - but you are ultimately responsible for those individual costs unless the designer contracts them on your behalf. One of the advantages of hiring interior designers to co-ordinate your space is that they often save you money because they choose reliable contractors for the job. To avoid 'surprise' costs, make sure that all arrangements are agreed in writing, with a breakdown of all costs involved. Make provision for possible extra costs and agree on how the bill is to be paid before onset of work.

After an initial discussion to assess your needs, the designer should come back to you with a design proposal for your home interior design, including suggestions for furniture and fabrics; paint and color. Once this has been agreed upon, nothing should be ordered without your approval.

From this point onwards, the designer and team should take charge and oversee all work for which they are responsible.

You will hear about most designers by word of mouth, but definitely ask for references. If you are still unsure about third party recommendations, consult the guild of interior designers in your area, and they should be able to inform you whether the company is registered or not.

Remember that you are paying someone to make your life beautiful, so make sure you get what you want. The more demanding and knowledgeable you are, the more focused and professional the interior designer will have to be.

Placentero
Experimental Brion is an area dedicated to develop conceptual ideas into products.

This area uses all the technology and production capacity of the company for its development.

To begin with, we chose the gestation period as the task to develop, which is the origin in itself of everything that surround us.

We had performed an investigation about the experiences the human beings have before birth.

This took us to meet some techniques of recreation of this natural situation as the suspension, floating, hypnosis, meditation, and systems of antigravity.

There were made designs about this concepts, examinations; it has been made a recompilation of bibliography and graphic material.

Finally, as the result of this deep investigation, it resulted almost naturally the reproduction of this new lounge chair, which is able to hold a person and give the possibility to connect with himself , giving the chance to make any movement and create whichever the position you like.

Comfort is felt by this natural appeal that leads you to connect yourself.

Placentero is the name of this new lounge chair, two words linked to de gestation period, "placenta" and "pleasure".
